The Washington Capitals ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals, won the Eastern Conference championship on Saturday, defeating Cincinnati 3-1 in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series. With the win the Royals captured the E.A. ‘Bud’ Gingher Memorial Trophy, as the Eastern Conference Playoff Champions, and will make their first Kelly Cup final appearance in franchise history.
