The Washington Capitals will practice today at 11 a.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
The 2012-13 NHL regular season officially ended yesterday. The Capitals (#3) will open the 2013 NHL Playoffs at Verizon Center on Thursday, May 2, against the New York Rangers (#6).
This will mark the third consecutive season that the two teams will matchup in the playoffs, and the fourth time in the last five seasons. In their history, the Capitals have faced the Rangers in seven series and have won four of them. In 41 playoff games against New York, Washington is 22-19, including going 13-7 on home ice during that span.
The Capitals will host Game 1 and Game 2 before heading to New York for Games 3 and 4. If necessary, Washington would also host Game 5 and Game 7 with New York hosting Game 6.

The Washington Capitals concluded the 2012-13 regular season with a 3-2 overtime win over the Boston Bruins last night. Washington, the third seed, will face the New York Rangers, the sixth seed, in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. This will mark the third consecutive season in which the two teams will face off in the playoffs.
