Today’s Storyline

The Washington Capitals will hold an optional practice today at Kettler Capitals Iceplex at 11 a.m.

Yesterday marked Washington’s first postseason shutout since a 2-0 win over the Rangers on 4/15/11. It also marked Washington’s first 1-0 playoff win since 4/12/01 vs. Pittsburgh.

Mike Green scored the second playoff game-winning goal of his career, his second against the Rangers. It was his first career overtime postseason goal.

Braden Holtby has allowed two goals or less in six of eight career playoff games vs. the Rangers (4-4, 1.80 GAA, .935 save percentage in those eight games).

With his assist on Green’s overtime goal, Alex Ovechkin has passed Mike Ridley and now ranks second in Capitals playoff scoring history with 61 career postseason points.
