ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have re-assigned forward Chris Brown to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Brown, 23, has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in six games with the Capitals this season. The 6’2”, 215-pound forward scored his first NHL goal on March 22 at San Jose and earned his first NHL assist on March 25 at Los Angeles. Washington acquired Brown with Rostislav Klesla and a fourth-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft from Phoenix for Martin Erat and John Mitchell on March 4. Brown made his Capitals debut on March 6 at Boston.
Brown scored two goals in three games with Hershey this season and recorded 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) and 68 penalty minutes in 51 games with the Portland Pirates (AHL). The Flower Mound, Texas, native has registered 84 points (45 goals, 39 assists) and 166 penalty minutes in 122 career AHL games with Portland and Hershey.
