Today's Storyline
The Washington Capitals continue a three-game road trip tonight in Philadelphia against the Flyers.              

Nicklas Backstrom is playing in his 400th career NHL game tonight. No active NHL player that has played in 400 or fewer games has amassed more points than Backstrom’s 397. Backstrom ranks 16th all-time in Capitals history in points and surpassed head coach Adam Oates for 10th place in assists (291) with his assist on March 30 at Buffalo. He currently ranks tied for fifth in the league in assists (25). Backstrom ranks fifth in the league in assists since his rookie season (2007-08).

No Brotherly Love - The Capitals have gone 7-3-3 against Philadelphia in their last 13 matchups with seven of the last 10 games being decided by one goal. Ovechkin has registered 38 points (23g-15a) in 28 career games against the Flyers, including three goals in the series last season. Shootout success - The Capitals participated in only their second shootout of the season on March 30 at Buffalo, earning their second win this season. Matt Hendricks scored the shootout determining goal, the fourth of his career. Hendricks owns a 64.3 career shootout percentage. Braden Holtby earned his second shootout victory of the season and is now 3-2 in shootouts in his career. 

Brouwer power - Troy Brouwer tallied a goal and an assist on March 30 at Buffalo and ranks second on Washington with 13 goals. Brouwer has collected five goals and eight assists in 14 games during the month of March, including three multiple-point games.
